Taiwan’s climate is marine tropical. With its high population density and humid climate, mosquitoes & flies has become a serious environmental problem in Taiwan.
We believe that spraying pesticides is only part of the solution. There should be a better way to kill mosquitoes & flies without harming the environment. In order to fulfill our dreams, we have launched new generation GR-01 Photocatalyst Mosquito Killer in 2009.
How Mosquitoes Find You?
Female mosquitoes need blood to nourish their eggs. They get that blood from you, your family and your pets. Mosquitoes find their targets based on warmth, moisture and carbon dioxide (CO2).
When people and animals breathe, they exhale an invisible mixture of carbon dioxide (CO2). Mosquitoes have ultra-sensitive receptors which can detect the presence of these chemicals. They follow your scent (CO2) upwind, and can trace you from almost 100 feet away.
How GR-01 Mosquito Killer Works?

The GreenLife GR-01 Mosquito Trap lures and traps mosquitoes and other biting insects by a combination of:
- Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
- Heat (simulate body temperature 36°C- 38°C)
- UV Light (350nm-370nm)
Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is produced from photocatalytic reaction. When UV lamp hits photocatalyst, the electron in TiO2 will react and combine with O2- and OH- respectively and eventually turns into CO2 and H2O. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is completely harmless, but irresistible to mosquitoes, they will follow the scent. Once the mosquitoes get nearer, the fan will pull the mosquitoes into the net where they will dehydrate and die.

F.A.Q
Q: Do I need to replace photocatalyst?
A: Our product uses the sixth generation ARC-FLASH Photocatalyst and is replacement-free. Compared with normal photocalyst, ARC-FLASH Photocatalyst has superior thin-film coating technique and better performance. After being dry, photocatalyst forms a very solid film that can be washed for 2,000 times unless strong cleaning chemicals are used.
Q: Any consumable items? How long does the UV lamp last?
A: UV lamp and fan are consumable items. Our UV lamp uses CCFL. The biggest advantage of CCFL is lower voltage and longer life span. Our UV lamp decreases slowly with age and is estimated to last 8,000 hours. Fan is estimated up to 15,000 hours.
Q: Why we suggest put GR-01 outdoor?
A: Photocatalyst Mosquito Killer mainly uses CO2 to lure mosquitoes, but human breath contains high level of CO2 than GR-01(40,000ppm vs 200ppm). If you put GR-01 in the house with people around, GR-01 cannot lure mosquitoes efficiently because human breath contains higher CO2 density. But if you place GR-01 outside near the house, even just 200ppm CO2 is strong enough to lure mosquitoes. Mosquitoes all come from outside, GR-01 can lower the density of mosquitoes around the house, so you will feel less mosquitoes inside and get better sleep.
